Shrekking

This is another Gen Z trend. They have decided that it makes more sense to date people who are beneath their level — in looks, income, prospects, intelligence, whatever.  The theory is that the person on the lower scale will then be very attentive to the highly attractive partner and do whatever they wish.  The idea comes from Shrek the movie where a Princess was mismatched with an ogre but the two discovered that, leaving their physical appearance to one side, they had a lot in common.

In real life people have discovered that this strategy does not necessarily work and that their chosen partner is ugly and stupid AND treats them very badly.  At that point they announce that they have been shrekked.
