dead internet theory

A terrible sadness has come upon us as we realise that the internet, one of the marvels of our day, is now ruined.  It is full of AI slop and algorithmic manipulation.  It is impossible to tell what is real and what is fake. You can’t be sure that you are connecting with a real person or a bit of software. The speed at which all this has happened is astonishing.  Whatever we find out there is somehow to be used for commercial gain rather than community engagement.  That is how we feel as we engage with the normal internet, even before we encounter the dark side.  AI is blamed for this death blow.
