lock in
When a Gen Z person has something important that they want to focus on — a project to complete, an exam to sit — they announce to all and sundry that they are locked in. That means that they are cutting themselves off from all social communications, from all activities and distractions so that they can concentrate on what has to be done. One of the helpful hints for effective locking in is that you use a specific grind list, that is, the playlist you have for chores or study rather than the one for party time. Everything that Gen X does is done to music. When it’s time to lock in, you know the music to choose.
