make bank

To make bank is to make a lot of money, more than is needed to just cover the essentials. It gives you riches to play with.  Green’s Dictionary of Slang lists this as a Black Americanism of the late 1990s, citing the Ebonics Primer of 2000: Example: Shiit, yo, Im gonna make bank slingin’ this dope.  Over the last few years, this expression has made its way into Australian English.  It is definitely colloquial and does not have high frequency yet but it is becoming more widespread.  It often follows advice or forecasts or wishful thinking. With my new job I’m going to make bank!
