demisexual

We have come a long way in our understanding of the gamut of human sexuality. The latest in this series is the demisexual, a person who experiences a sexual attraction only towards a person with whom they have established a strong bond. This may be an emotional bond or an intellectual one. A demisexual relationship does not have to be a romantic one.  The demi- comes from the notion that the demisexual is halfway between asexual and sexual, but this is not entirely helpful.  The term for someone with a halfway-house sexuality is a graysexual. Demisexuality conveys the nature of the sexuality rather than the intensity.
