tradwife movement

Why a woman would want to go back to the lifestyle and culture of 1950s Australia I do not know. But apparently some women do. It is not just a matter of stepping away from a high-powered job as a conscious decision to devote more of your time to parenting.  The tradwife does more than that. Cooking, cleaning, childminding is all part of the lifestyle but there is more.  The tradwife defers in all things to her husband as the head of the family. Moreover it is part of her role to ensure that she remains attractive to her husband so visits to the gym, the hairdresser, the beauty parlour are all warranted by the need to stay beautiful.  The tradwife’s make-up is always in place, whatever struggles she has had with the children. Dinner is always served on time. There are never arguments or even discussions between the tradwife and her husband because hubbie is always right. The tradwife movement is linked to a right-wing political inclination.
