regenerative egg

I find the concept of the regenerative egg slightly alarming — I imagine putting eggs in the fridge and opening the door to find chickens leaping out.

But the label regenerative placed on the eggs in fact refers to the style of farming.  Regenerative agriculture is already in the dictionary.  This is a farming method that gives soil health top priority, particularly by rotating crops or animals from one area to another.  In this case the chickens are rotated so that they have fresh pasture, they enrich the soil with their manure, and they move on to a new patch in a mobile enclosure so that the area they have been on can recover.  Better pasture, happier chickens and better eggs is the theory.
