femgore
In one sense it should be easy to describe this new genre — fem (woman) plus gore (horror). But in another way it is difficult to pin down. There is a lot of genre bending and blending in it so it covers horror, fantasy, erotica, myth and folklore, humour, all of course from a feminine perspective. Stories by women about women, breaking taboos by including much of what all women know and experience but never reveal. In this way it could be described as feminist but there seems to be some ambivalence about whether the subject matter is meant to be titillating or liberating or instructive.
