K visa

This is a visa introduced this year by China to attract STEM graduates to work in China.  It is seen as a step to attract more of the world’s best science and technology young talent to China in the race with the US.  The main difference between the K visa and other recruitment visas is that the applicant does not need to have a Chinese sponsor.  This frees up the flow of science and technology workers into China.

There has been a backlash inside China from the local talent who view these visa holders as competing with them for jobs.
