lockdown fatigue
Words created as compounds with –fatigue, in which the state of apathy, boredom and disenchantment was linked to a specified cause, started to appear in the 1960s. One of the first was compassion fatigue followed by decision fatigue, email fatigue, password fatigue, and now lockdown fatigue.
Some fatigues like battle fatigue are recognised psychological neuroses. Lockdown fatigue also has psychological overtones and has been analysed as resulting from the disruption of our routines or habits. We all find that distressing and depressing initially as we struggle to form new routines. But the way forward is to deliberately form new habits. Find some structure in the day, get some exercise and try to get a good sleep.
