sales suppression software

sales suppression software.jpg

This is software which enables a business to falsify the details of a transaction maintained by the point-of-sale software in order to cheat on tax payments.  As the ATO puts it, a restaurant can disguise an expensive piece of steak as a bowl of chips, so that the income appears to be much less than it is in fact.  The use of such software is now banned.  Point-of-sale software may still include an editing function. It is possible still to edit transactions if the purpose is to clarify or correct the record, but not if it is to delete or alter items for the purpose of tax minimisation.
