misogynoir

In the row that erupted between Prince Harry and the Chair of a UK charity that he co-founded, he was accused of bullying, and of misogyny AND misogynoir.  The Chair, Dr Sophie Chandauka, is a Zimbabwean corporate lawyer.  Prince Harry was cleared of all the defamation claims against him.

Misogynoir is a term coined in 2010 by the  African-American scholar and activist, Moya Bailey, to pinpoint a specific form of prejudice directed against women who are black.  It combines the general antipathy to women with a racism often expressed in stereotypes of Black women and so differs from the forms of misogyny experienced by white women.  I suspect it has not left the realms of academic study until recently.

Fortunately Harry has been officially declared not to be misogynoiristic.
