deathmatch

A wrestling match in which there are very few rules.  The ring is formed with barbed wire rather than rope, there are thumbtacks on the floor and you can hit your opponent with fluorescent light tubes and wooden skewers.  That’s the downside.  The upside is that the sport is inclusive and sets no barriers to the LBGTQ community.  Gender is irrelevant so women can fight men.  Deathmatch wrestling shows begin with an acknowledgement of country.  It is a development from hardcore wrestling affected by #MeToo and Black Lives Matter.  And while the wrestlers will be scarred from their encounters, no one will be seriously hurt  — if all goes according to plan. The match ends when one wrestler has their shoulder pinned to the ground for three seconds, or taps on the mat to indicate submission, or is knocked out.
