naked flying

Those of you who read naked running might be tempted to think that this is flying without instruments which would be interesting.  But no. Naked in this context means ‘without paraphernalia of any kind’, so naked flying is stepping onto a commercial airline with no baggage.  In its purest form it means you have a phone, a wallet, and a charger, and that’s it.  These are the totally bare naked flyers.  However, there are variations on the theme.

Naked flyers who are pocket people will wear clothes — pants and jackets — with many pockets into which they proceed to stuff the things they want to bring with them.  Some will wear layers of clothing — multiple jumpers and at least two pants.  The delivery crew rely on shipping luggage to their destination which is much less expensive than taking it on a plane.  Alternatively they might borrow some clothes when they get there.

All of this is done to avoid the shock of being told at the airport what it will cost you to take your intended luggage on the plane.
