noctourism

This is tourism by night, a reaction to the overtourism that happens by day perhaps.  Since we have exhausted the daytime possibilities let’s start exploring the world again by night.  There is also the theory that the younger generation with less reliance on alcohol do not consider that the only thing to do at night is to retire to a bar or restaurant and drink the hours away.

So the big offerings here are night-time safaris, diving by night (bioluminescence is a drawcard), star-gazing in remote locations and watching the auroras.  In Australia we are offering the Aurora Australis and lots of star-gazing, but there are also night city tours which either show off the existing city skylines or take the tourists to illuminated sections as in Sydney’s Vivid.  The zoos are offering illuminated sculptures of animals as well as the real thing.  We can expect more as people turn their minds to what works at night.
