digital duty of care

This is the responsibility that digital platforms should bear for keeping their users safe and preventing online harms such as scams.  This is about to be enshrined in law by the Albanese government so  details of the definition may change, but the general idea is that it is not good enough for these platforms to sit back and let bad things happen. They need to take proactive measures to prevent them and build in protections systemically.  The particular harms to be addressed are harms to young people, harms to mental health, instructions and promotions of actions which are harmful, and illegal content or the promotion of illegal activities.
