blood oil

We have heard about blood diamonds and blood minerals — diamonds and rare minerals sold to fund a conflict somewhere in the world.  Now we have blood oil, transported on ghost ships (qv) and a shadow fleet (qv) and sold by Russia, despite sanctions, to fund the war in Ukraine. Some of it is even finding its way by devious means into Australia so that some part of the money we pay for petrol is funding the Russian war machine. Australia imposed sanctions on Russia in 2022 which should have put an end to our dealings with Russian oil.  But the crude oil goes mostly to India, China and Malaysia where it is refined and sold on as petrol and diesel. Our major supplier is in India.
