R360

This is the rather unappealing name for the rebel Rugby competition.  What every rebel competition needs is people with money to back it. In this case the money that secured the venture came from private backers in the United States, the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.

It also needs a well-known player to be the face of the new venture — in this case, former England World Cup winner Mike Tindall.  Some major current players pledging allegiance is also good — in this case Melbourne superstar, Ryan Papenhuzen, is being courted.

The plan is that the format will be based on Rugby 7s.  Each round of the league will be held in a different city around the world.  (There won’t be a team based in Australia). There is the usual uproar as teams in existing competitions try to prevent their players from signing up to the new venture..
