native advertising

This is essentially advertising, usually digital advertising, which takes on the form and style of the platform that presents it so that it blends seamlessly with the basic content and is pretty well indistinguishable from it.  It seems that online banner ads are barely noticed by the viewers and  are therefore a waste of time and money.  If you can get some text written in the style of the site that pushes your brand, or if you can have an attached article of interest, or something embedded in the text, that is much more successful in raising brand awareness and extending your market reach.

It is different from the advertorial which is usually pushing a particular product or special sale. The advertorial appears to be written by the regular writer who has, off their own bat, discovered an enthusiasm for this product, but the article is in fact paid for.  So the advertorial is sneaky, but the native advertising is even sneakier.
