hypnobirthing

Hypnobirthing is a technique that applies the practices of hypnosis to the process of giving birth so that the mother can take control of her pain using relaxation techniques, deep breathing and meditation, positive visualisation and affirmation.  When we are feeling sick, scared, and overwhelmed by pain, the natural thing is to become tense. Muscles contract and tighten. We feel pain acutely.  Hypnobirthing is a way of avoiding this path and inducing a calm state of mind and a relaxed body which makes giving birth easier.  It also pushes the pain away to a manageable level.  The Duchess of Cambridge has spoken about her experience of pregnancy sickness and difficulties in childbirth, and has become an advocate of hypnobirthing.
