mixed metaphors at breakfast

An interesting way of following suit.

‘If given room to breathe, the cream will rise to the top and the rest will follow suit.’

 I don’t think this writer was trying to be funny.  The sentence preceding this began ‘Footy’s circle of life demands that good will inevitably prevail over evil…’

It seems we owe the circle of life to the Lion King, where it conveys the idea that animals in the food chain all rely on each other, but why it is inevitable that, in such a circle, good will prevail over evil I don’t know. Perhaps it is an idea that follows from the fact that the Lion King has a happy ending.

 Two mixed metaphors side by side will usually grab the reader’s attention, but three in a row is splendidly arresting.
