vaccine diplomacy

This is a style of diplomacy which is focused on providing aid to countries to assist them in coping with the pandemic now and in obtaining the vaccine when and if it becomes available.  There is considerable positioning of powerful countries in anticipation of securing the vaccine for their populations, but that leaves weaker countries in a situation where they need help to obtain supplies. So as well as securing their own supplies, the more powerful countries are hoping to get kudos for providing some quantities of the vaccine to less well-off countries in order to win their loyalty for the future.  Australia is making moves to secure supplies of the vaccine for its citizens but also promising to make the vaccine available to countries in the Pacific and to Indonesia through its overseas aid programs. This is our effort at vaccine diplomacy.
