cottage core

This is an aesthetic in fashion and design which tries to recreate the simplicity, naturalness, wholesomeness and self-sufficiency of country living.  It was first identified in 2018 but has been given a huge push in 2020 by the circumstances of the pandemic.  It allows us to view all that home baking and sloppy dressing as part of a romantic pastoral idyll where the women wear simple skirts that look homemade but cost a fortune, and combine them with flowing white blouses. They let their hair down as they knead the dough in the country-style kitchen.  It is also known as grandmacore, goblincore, faeriecore and farmcore.
